Creating and managing events

Events

Events are used for upcoming activities, meetings, and gatherings.

Creating an Event

Step 1: Open the Events Tab

  1. Navigate to Content in the sidebar
  2. Click the Events tab
  3. Click Create New

Step 2: Fill in Event Details

Title (Required)

  • Name of the event
  • Example: "YCW Adelaide Monthly Meeting"

Description (Required)

  • Brief summary of the event
  • Appears in event listings

Content (Optional)

  • Full event details using the Rich Text Editor
  • Include agenda, what to bring, etc.

Start Date & Time (Required)

  • When the event begins
  • Use the date/time picker
  • Format: Date and time

End Date & Time (Optional)

  • When the event ends
  • Leave blank for single-day events
  • Format: Date and time

Location (Optional)

  • Where the event takes place
  • Can be a physical address or online location
  • Example: "YCW Adelaide Office, 123 Main St" or "Zoom Meeting"

Link (Optional)

What you'll see: Form fields for all event details. The date/time pickers show a calendar interface for selecting dates and times.

Step 6: Request Approval

See Approval Workflow for details.

Step 7: Save

Click Save to save your event.

Event-Specific Features

Date Display:

  • Events automatically appear in chronological order
  • Upcoming events are highlighted
  • Past events can be filtered out

Calendar Integration:

  • Events appear in the Calendar view
  • Can be viewed by month, week, or day
  • Color-coded by event type

Recurring Events:

  • Currently, each occurrence must be created separately
  • Use tags to group related events

Editing and Deleting Events

Same process as News Articles - navigate to the event, click Edit, make changes, and Save. Or click Delete to remove.
